sanctuary

So when i received my assignment in FW6 to go to a big cats rescue & education facility, i was really excited but totally clueless of how to shoot to this assignment. I came in thinking it’s going to be a zoo-like place. I was totally wrong. This place is a safe haven, a sanctuary, as my mentor Anna called it. It is filled with rescued tigers, lions, cougars, panthers, leopards, and other cats, that were abandoned or abused.

As I began to know Vicky, the lady who started it all, and the volunteers, I started to see my story. As I spent time following the volunteers on their daily activities, I can see their passion for the cats, and it translated to their full dedication to these magnificent cats. My story isn’t about the volunteers. My story is about the cats. It’s about finding beauty in the rescued cats, a beauty & character that is so great that it captivated the hearts of Vicky and the volunteers, and me. When our team was editing my images, I half jokingly said to Amy, my team leader, that the tigers are my bride in this assignment ^_^

Now I want to share my presentation and I’m moved to do what I can for the magnificent cats at In-Sync Exotics. They are a non-profit organization so they rely on donation yearly to support and rescue more cats. So let’s do this:

1. click the link below for the presentation
2. it will take you to In-Sync Exotics site at the end of the show. check them out and donate if you’re willing to help.
3. come back here and leave some comments! ^_^

for every comments posted here until end of april, we will match and donate to them. I hope you can help us raise some funds for this wonderful organization and their dedicated volunteers.

be Blessed!

Oscar, this slideshow is magnificent. It moved me to tears (and that’s coming from a dog person who doesn’t normally like cats)! It’s amazing to see your skills transfer so nicely from brides to big cats. Consider this my pledge to donate to a worthy cause!

I’ll second that! I’m not usually a cat person and though intrigued with the cats at the zoo, never felt a connection with them. That show made me feel differently.

    Tiger! Tiger! Burning bright,
In the forest of the night.
    What immortal hand or eye,
    could frame thy fearful symetry.
